In 1985, Arlington embarked on a new venture: the construction of the Lakeside Chapel & Mausoleum.  This building, a beautiful colonial brick structure with a tall, spiraling white steeple, incorporates within its design both exterior and interior crypts. The exquisitely finished central interior of the building serves as the main chapel and its controlled climate promotes extensive use for funerals, committal services and visitation.

Over the years, all of the interior crypt spaces have been purchased and, as a result, the Board of Trustees has approved an expansion of the original structure.  The existing east and west wings will be expanded resulting in an additional 420 memorial locations with 280 of those located inside the chapel area.  The original contractor, Milne Construction Company of Portland, Oregon has designed the expansion and will serve as the contractor.

While construction of the expansion will not begin until the spring of 2012, those interested in reserving space now will be extended substantial pre-construction discounts.
