Alice Elizabeth Davenport

Alice Elizabeth Davenport was born on March 8, 1928 to the late Louis Emanuel and Mary Herndon in Covington, Kentucky.  She departed this life on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 10:10 p.m.  She was the sister of three brothers and one sister, John, Emanuel, Donald and Lucille, all of whom preceded her in death.

On November 2, 1963, she married Alfred H. Davenport.  He preceded her in death, October 21, 1988.  Three children were born out of this union.

She was baptized and a long time member of the choir at 9th Street Baptist Church in Covington, KY.  After relocating to Cincinnati, she later became a member of First Baptist Church of West College Hill.

She attended Lincoln-Grant Elementary and Secondary School, Wilberforce University and Good Samaritan School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse.  She worked as a RN for over 30 years and retired from Good Samaritan Hospital.

Alice loved traveling.  She helped to establish the Les Chic Roadrunners and Senior Travels, along with her dear friend Helen Carter.  They went on cruises, international and local trips.  She was also a member of the Woodlawn 50+ club. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, three children Mary Wilkins, Sarah Kimbrough (Milton) and Charles Davenport.  She was blessed with eight grandchildren: DeShawn, Brittney, Robbie, Charles Jr., Sierra, Jordan, Branden, and Shane.  She has 13 beautiful great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation and Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday March 12, 2022, from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231.  Family is requesting that everyone wear masks. Once on the grounds of the memorial park, follow the blue line to the funeral home.

    So sorry for our loss. Alice is cousin by marriage, but friend by choice. Praying for the family and ask that we stay in touch in honor of her. I hope to see everyone before the day ends. Melvina
