Burton Roberts, age 86, passed in peace on April 9th, 2021.
Affectionately called Brother by his sisters and Burt by most others, he was born on February 11, 1935 at home in Cincinnati, Ohio to Cash and Myrtle Roberts. He was the youngest child with four sisters. They all preceded him in death along with his parents and grandson: Juanita/Pearl, Mattie (Jack Hoopes), Jessie (Vito Aloisio), and Tracy (Ken Mueller), and Charles Roberts.
Burt retired from the United States Marine Corps after 20 years of service to his country. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served for a year from 1967-1968. He received several ribbons and medals during his time in the military and was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. After retiring, Burt moved his family back to Cincinnati. He worked at various places such as Shillito’s but the job he enjoyed the most was being an usher for the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, and the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. Also, he was proud to be the Post Commander for the Hanselman Commandry for a time.
Burt is survived by his wife, Alice; his sons, Dale (Michele), Joe, and Burt (Dawn); and his daughter Denise (Anderson). His grandchildren: Sharon, Christine, Timothy, Nicholas, Chad, Christopher, Chelsea, Michael, Breanna, Jorden (Erin), and Camron (Madison). And finally, his legacy lives on through his great grandchildren: Austyn, Dylan, Reagan, Camden, Hannah, and Koa.
The visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17th, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Parish, 400 Nilles Road, Fairfield, OH 45014. The visitation hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with mass following immediately afterwards. At the conclusion of the funeral service a funeral precession will leave the church and go to Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231. The United States Marine Corps will have a military salute for GySgt Roberts.
