Marilyn Jean Kraus October 3, 1935 - April 1, 2021

Marilyn Jean Kraus

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Marilyn Jean Kraus, 85, our kind, gentle mother and loving friend to all whose lives she touched. She died peacefully, with family by her side at Twin Towers Senior Living Community on April 1, 2021. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 3, 1935, to Bruce and Marjorie Dahlmann Gibson, she leaves behind sister, Judy (William Ferrier) and brother, Robert (Phyllis Bobbie). She is preceded in death by ex-husband, James Lowell Kraus.

Marilyn is survived by daughter, Jeanne, and four sons, Mark (Deborah), James Lowell, Jr. (Lisa), Eric (Tracie), and Timothy (Nicole) and cherished grandchildren Kendyll and Kameron, Courtney and Carley, Olivia, Lily, Gunnar, and Gavin.

Marilyn was a devoted mother to her children, supporting them in sports and Girl Scouts. She also lovingly raised many dogs and cats throughout her life. Her favorite hobby was shopping the thrift stores, and she never passed up a yard sale. She made beautiful flower arrangements, and in her last years at Twin Towers, discovered her talent for painting. She loved Notre Dame football and the Cincinnati Reds.

Marilyn’s life was a living example of her faith in God. The Lord was the strength of her life. She had a prayer for everyone. It was her ministry to care for others, to bring hope to those around her. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021, from noon until graveside services begin at 1:00 PM at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Once on the cemetery grounds, follow the red line to the chapel.

Marilyn loved the color purple. Please honor her by wearing something purple.
