Scott A. Roof
Scott Roof, age 75, passed away on June 2, 2022.
Scott was born May 1, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Edwin and Katherine Roof. On December 27, 1969, Scott married the love of his life, Luana Long, of Cincinnati.
Scott and Luana grew up a block apart and attended Monfort Heights Elementary School together. Scott went to Colerain High School for two years and graduated from Millersburg Military Institute in 1965 where he played football and wrestled. He then played football while studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan.
Scott was employed in the Missile and Space Division of General Electric as a Chemical Engineering Technician from 1967-1970. In the early 1970’s he worked in research and development for Panacon, a division of Miami Carey. He began his lifelong career at Varland Metal Service, a company founded in part by his father, where he worked in a variety of positions, retiring as President in 2013.
Scott had broad interests and loved to learn. He was an avid photographer, developing his own photos. He was an exceptional self-taught cook and baker, cooking for most family gatherings. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved camping, graduating from tent to motorhome. He could fix or repair anything.
Scott is survived by his wife Luana Roof of 52 years. Daughter Kimberly (Matt) Roof, Son Austen (Kristie) Roof. Granddaughter Nadia Arazosa. Also survived by his sister Christy (Rich) Lanning, sister-in-law Jan Roof and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Katherine Roof, infant son Brendon Roof, and brother Terry Roof.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:30 AM at Evangelical Community Church (2191 Struble Road, Cincinnati Ohio 45231) Graveside service to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens (2145 Compton Rd. 45231)
