Thomas Turner, 77, of Centerburg, OH, peacefully passed away at his home on December 17th, 2021. Thomas (Tom) was born on March 19th, 1944 to Lelia and Arnold Turner in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was drafted into the Army serving 82nd Division for the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. Tom volunteered as a paratrooper while serving at the front lines in Vietnam. He continued military service as a reservist for an additional 10 years as military police and security. Thomas’ career includes 28 years as a die caster at American Roller, then approximately 10 years as a tankerman in the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi River. Later in retirement he returned to security and joining the American Legion to keep himself busy.
Thomas was most passionate about fishing and very knowledgeable about God’s creatures. He had taught all his children and grandchildren all there is to know about animals, in general. Thomas was witty and loved to make others smile. His dancing skills left others envious as he was so animated.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Lelia & Arnold, his previous wife of 38 years, Bettie Ann, his sisters Dellaree, JoAnn and his brothers Mike, Dallas Wayne and Sam. He is survived by his current wife, Norma, his sister, Levene, his children, Cathy, David, Lori, Melanie, Wendy, Matt, his grandchildren, Hannah, Brad, Ashley, Michael, Erin, Matthew, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury where a funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, December 31, 2021 with Pastor Mark Tuggle officiating. Interment will follow on a later date at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio.
