William Waples

William “Bill” Joseph Waples passed away in his residence on Saturday, October 4th at the age of 82. Born on September 9, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, Bill grew up instilling joy, laughter, and kindness in all those he met. A loving husband, father, brother, and friend, he spent his life making cherished memories with his family and community.

Bill is survived by his devoted spouse of 52 years, Mary Waples, and his beloved son, William “Joe” Waples III, along with daughter-in-law Jennifer Waples; two stepsons, Robert (Jodi) Foley and Larry Foley; five grandchildren, Katie Waples, Devin (Allie) Foley, Jessica (Jake) Greene, Miranda Foley and Landon (Alexa) Foley; nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his two brothers, Robert and Jim Waples and sister Nancy Condon. Bill was known for his warm heart and unwavering support for his loved ones.

As a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg, Georgia, his spiritual life was a source of peace and purpose.  His involvement in the church reflected his deep commitment to serving others and living with grace.   

Bill was a Scottish Rite Mason and lived a life guided by the principles of brotherhood, charity and truth. In his professional life, Bill retired from Quest Diagnostics. He also spent 15 years as a restaurant owner and operator, creating warm, welcoming spaces where community and connection could flourish. 

He preceded in death by his parents Joe and Alice, sister Barbara Blair and brother Harry Waples

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9 – 10 AM Saturday October 11, 2025 in the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home
