Wilma J (Noble) Crachiolo
JULY 25, 1939 ~ APRIL 18, 2019 (AGE 79)
Wilma J. Noble Crachiolo of Cincinnati passed away peacefully Thursday, April 18, after a short illness. Known as Willie to those who knew her well, she will be remembered as a kind and gentle person—stepmother, aunt, confidant, and good friend. Willie was fascinated by genealogy—she traced the Nobles back to the 18th century—and she inspired others to look into their own families. Willie knew how to find old marriage licenses, baptismal records, and death certificates long before Ancestry.com came along. A glance at Willie’s bookshelves reveals an eclectic collection of everything from biblical exegesis to biography to cooking to learning shorthand; the majority, however, are books about spirituality and religion. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was ecumenical in her practice of spirituality and in her support for the spiritual practices of those she loved. She was a fan of opera, a champion shopper, but a terrible cook, and she had an incurable sweet tooth. Her feeding and rescue of stray cats were legendary; Callie, Thomas, Spock, Lucy, and Earl Gray will miss the very high, very squeaky voice she used to talk to them. So will the rest of us.
Willie is survived by her stepchildren Tony (Beth) Crachiolo and Angie (Orin) Kendrick; her step-grandchildren Colton and Skyler Hunter; her brother-in-law Stephen (Cathy) Crachiolo; nephews and nieces Mark (Shari) Noble, Rhonda (Gary) Leake, Richard (Dana) McKinney, Carolyn (Thomas) Lee, Kathy Noble, Robin (Jeffrey) Smith, Gina (Brad) Feldtz, Christy (Dan) Brown, and April (David) Lewis.
Services for Wilma will be Wednesday, April 24, at Dalbert, Woodruff, and Isenogle (2880 Boudinot Avenue; Cincinnati); Visitation is at 11:00 a.m., Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m.
Willie will be interred beside her husband John at Arlington Memorial Gardens (2145 Compton Road; Cincinnati).
