A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
Doris Marie Hannaford, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones after a strong 11 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on February 6, 1954, in Cincinnati, Doris embraced every moment of her life with joy and compassion, always putting family first.
Doris will be fondly remembered for her incredible cooking and baking skills. Her specialty dishes like City Chicken, Manicotti, Cow’s Pot and her famous Christmas cookies brought everyone together, especially her cherished pecan tassies that her family and friends longed for during the holidays. A devoted homemaker, Doris took immense pleasure in nurturing her family and creating a warm, loving environment.
Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds. She was their biggest cheerleader, supporting them at sports events and attending every performance, always with a proud smile on her face. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them, whether it be sharing stories, watching movies like “Grease” and “Dirty Dancing,” or dancing with her husband, Tom.
Doris was not just a proud military spouse but felt a deep-seated pride in supporting Tom’s career in the United States Air Force and the families they met along the way. Their military adventures took them from Little Rock, to Panama, to Dover where they created lifelong friendships. Doris and Tom embarked on fun-filled trips to Niagara Falls, New Orleans, St. Louis and more. She enjoyed the family’s well-loved visits to Sesame Place, Hershey Park and Busch Gardens. Doris loved these journeys but cherished even more the quiet times spent at home, often watching “Days of Our Lives” or rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals, cheering “WHO DEY!”
Doris is survived by her loving husband of over fifty years, Tom Hannaford; her daughters, Tiffany (Chris Metz) Stevens and Melissa (Ken) Cummings; and her grandchildren, Isabella, Lindsey, Sophia, Maddie, Jillian, Tommy, Grace, and Julia. Her fur babies, Sarge, Digger and Chanel. She will also be missed by her siblings, Donna Zurweller, Terry Wyenandt, Becky Teetor, Doug Wyenandt, Greg Wyenandt, and LeeAnn Pemberton. She also leaves to cherish her sister-in-law, Marilyn (Steve) Bosch, her brother-in-law, George Hannaford (the late Paul Smith) and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom hold dear memories of laughter and love with her.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Evelyn Wyenandt (nee Fowee), and her brother Raymond Wyenandt.
A heartfelt funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). Visitation 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Service 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. Doris will be laid to rest following the service, in the Garden of Patriotism.
As we say goodbye to Doris, let us remember the warmth she brought to all our lives, the laughter she shared, and the love she so generously gave. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and family values that will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Doris. You will be forever missed.

“Dear my second mom! You will surely be missed by my family, and my parents John and Phyllis Heft! So many wonderful memories. I loved making you laugh with my silly antics. Or the not so good time when Tiff and I stole the car. You were there to support me as well in so many things. Like every weekend taking us and picking us up from the skating rink! I love you and I will miss you I just know you’re in a better place free from illness! I love you mom! ( second mom)”
