Lynn Estelle Hoffman

Paul Young Funeral Home is assisting the Family

Obituary via Paul Young Funeral Home

Lynn Estelle Hoffman passed away peacefully at Mount Healthy Christian Village after a courageous three-and-a-half-year journey with dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

Born on December 15, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida, Lynn was the daughter of Charles E. Hoffman and Estelle Taylor Hoffman. At the age of two, she moved with her family to the Taylor homestead in Mt. Healthy, Ohio-a place that would remain home in her heart throughout her life.

Lynn graduated from Mt. Healthy High School, Class of 1964, and was a lifelong member of Mt. Healthy Christian Church, now Journey Community Church. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University and a Master of Science in Education from Miami University. While at Indiana University, Lynn was deeply involved in campus life, serving as President of her sorority, Sigma Kappa, and participating on the synchronized swimming team.

Following in the proud tradition of her parents and grandparents, Lynn devoted her life to education. She spent 30 years teaching elementary physical education, health, and dance in the Hamilton, Ohio Public Schools, where she touched countless young lives with her energy, encouragement, and love of movement. In addition, she served for many years as an athletic trainer for Hamilton High School teams, always offering steady support and care to student athletes.

Lynn’s love of sports was lifelong and wholehearted. She cheered faithfully for her hometown Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and, for more than 30 years after graduating, made her way back to Bloomington nearly every Saturday to attend Indiana University football games. One of her family and friend’s cherished comforts is knowing that she was of sound enough mind to celebrate Indiana University’s 2025 national football championship in January.

Beyond her professional life, Lynn found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures. She loved to sew, spend afternoons swimming at her local YMCA, gather weekly with friends to quilt, work in her yard, dine out, and share her talents at local craft shows. These moments- creative, social, and peaceful-reflected the warmth and generosity she brought to everything she did.

Lynn is survived by her three first cousins; Leith Whatley of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Thomas Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina and Dr. Robert Taylor of Toledo, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her cousin, Chuck Taylor, of Pennsylvania. Also surviving is her life-long friend, Jane Gesell, Connersville, IN.

A visitation will take place at Paul R Young Funeral Home, 7345 Hamilton Ave Mt. Healthy, Ohio 45231 on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 11:00am-12:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 12:00pm.   Lynn will be laid to rest in the Hoffman family plot at Arlington Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at the funeral home or mailed to Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263-3597.

Honoring Lynn’s lifelong commitment to education and her deep belief in supporting those just beginning their teaching journeys, endowments will be established-per her wishes- in both the Mt. Healthy Public School District and the Hamilton City School District. These funds will provide classroom start-up support for new teachers, ensuring that Lynn’s legacy of encouragement, learning, and care continues for generations to come.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.paulyoungfuneralhome.com
