Steven R. Johns, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He is the beloved son of Carolyn Haupt Johns and the late Bruce M. Johns. Steven was born in San Jose, California on December 31, 1975, later moving to Connecticut, then eventually Cincinnati Ohio where he graduated from Princeton High School in 1994. He went onto Miami University where he pledged Theta Chi Fraternity and made lifelong friendships and memories. After working for several years he returned to school at College of Mt. Saint Joseph and earned a Masters Degree in Education.
Eventually he found himself working at Montgomery Inn where he formed lasting bonds with his coworkers and guests alike. He was well known for his kind, caring nature. Outside of work he found a second home with his “family” at The Hangar. There, over beers and ball games, he built lasting friendships that became an important part of his life, bringing him joy, comfort, and connection.
Steven was many things to many people: son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, but his role as son was his most important. Steven was deeply devoted to his parents, Carolyn and Bruce, and provided companionship and care to them for many years. He was always the “fun” uncle, attending sporting events, birthdays, and bringing over the conies from Skyline. Besides his mother Carolyn, Steven is survived by his sister, Katherine Qua (Patrick), and brother Greg Johns, as well as nieces and nephews Caitlin Qua (Margaret), Megan Kaercher (Christopher), Brian Qua (Megan), and Brody Johns, as well as many cousins and countless friends.
Anyone who knew Steven knew what a big-hearted, compassionate person he was. His family and friends will miss him immensely and we are all better for having known him.
