Gary David Oeters

June 17, 1950 – May 31, 2026

Gary David Oeters

It is with heavy hearts yet joyful memories that we announce the passing of Gary David Oeters, who left us on May 31, 2026, at the age of 75. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary dedicated over 45 years to law enforcement and security. He was also a professional wedding photographer in his free time.

Gary was not only a committed professional but also a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Oeters, and their three sons, David (Bethe), Jamie (Cheryl), and Justin (Donna) as well as his siblings, Harry, Bill and Joan. Gary was a proud grandfather to Evan, Elise, Jayden, and Caitlee, who will fondly remember him as the fun-loving grandpa who found joy in adventures and family gatherings.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Gary loved hiking the beautiful trails around Cincinnati. He was an enthusiastic Cub and Boy Scout leader and coach, sharing his love of nature, photography, and sports. Whether he was passionately cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, reading a book, watching a romantic comedy, or engaging in puzzles and word games, his spirit was infectious, and his laughter brought light to all those around him. He always had a quick-witted dad joke or two ready to share.

As he enjoys his eternal peace, we invite family and friends to join us in celebrating Gary’s remarkable life. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in the Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel (follow the red line upon entering the memorial park) at 11:00 a.m. A niche side service will follow at 12:00 p.m., leading into a reception at 12:30 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Gardens Community Center, located at 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local animal shelters, reflecting Gary’s love for his cats and dogs,  or curing Type 1 Diabetes (donate here).

Join us as we laugh, cry, and remember the wonderful man Gary was, a true friend to many and a gentle soul who left this world better than he found it.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Oeters.

“I was so sorry to hear about Gary’s passing! I know he was a wonderful husband and father, and he always made everyone feel so welcome, even if we smelled bad after an indoor soccer game! I wish I could be there to celebrate his life and give you all hugs, but we will be out of the country 🙁 Please know you will be in my thoughts and prayers!!! Love you guys!”
