Rita Scheidt

November 28, 1930 – july 15, 2026

Rita Scheidt

Rita Scheidt, our beloved matriarch, left this world peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on November 28, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rita embraced a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. A devoted wife to her loving husband, Daniel, Rita and Daniel celebrated an incredible 75 years of marriage, having met at the tender age of 16 and tying the knot when she was just 20. Their love story became a testament to commitment, devotion, and the joy of sharing life’s adventures.

In her earlier years, Rita dazzled as a professional roller skater, twirling gracefully across the rink, captivating all who laid eyes on her.  Shortly after their wedding, Rita accompanied her new husband, Daniel, to California where they lived during his service in the Marines during the Korean War. But, it was in the warmth of home where Rita truly flourished. As a proud homemaker, she created a nurturing environment for her daughters, Diana DeFelipe and Cindy Henninger, where laughter was abundant, and love was unconditional.

Rita and Daniel had a flair for hosting lively gatherings and attended many dances, reflecting their zest for life. The memories of family vacations to sunny Destin, Florida, and the excitement of Las Vegas, Nevada, are forever etched in the hearts of those who loved her.

Rita is survived by her devoted husband Daniel, her daughters Diana and Cindy, and a wonderful array of grandchildren: Michele Dunham, Virginia Felipe-Morales, Timothy Henninger II, Javi Felipe-Morales, Lauren Henninger, and Vanessa Felipe-Morales. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Michael Henninger, Cole Toberg, and Alyssa Toberg, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Though our hearts ache at her passing, we find comfort in the legacy of love she leaves behind. Rita’s spirit will forever dance in our hearts, in every cherished memory and joyful moment shared among family and friends. We ask all who knew and loved her to remember and honor the remarkable life of Rita Scheidt.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alma Bruns, her siblings, Loretta Sphoerer, Alberta Kaufman, Buddy Bruns, and Joe Bruns.
