Jo Kohus

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of JoAnn Kohus, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, who left us on August 22, 2026, at the age of 73. JoAnn was born on May 18, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jo built a successful career in administrative support, spending several years at Procter & Gamble before contributing her talents to Sunny D for another decade. Her professional achievements were only overshadowed by her genuine kindness and dedication to caring for others.

A true animal lover, Jo opened her heart and home to many dogs throughout her life, including her cherished companions Sam, Amber, Nuit, Snuggles, P.T., Joey, Beau, and Bentley. Known for her compassionate spirit, she often rescued dogs in need.

For decades, Jo crafted beautiful Christmas ornaments alongside her sister Nancy, contributing to holiday joy for her family and friends. Additionally, Jo actively participated in her community, lending her support to St. Ann’s and helping with their Christmas walk, as well as attending St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church.

Jo is survived by her sisters Nancy Jacob and Donna Reynolds, her nephew David (Katie) Jacob, her niece Katie (Sean) McCartney, and her great niece and nephews, Ron McCartney, William Jacob, Kara Jacob, and Owen Jacob. Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Kohus, and parents, Dale and Helen Hinkle.

A funeral mass in honor of Jo’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29^th, 2026 at 10:00am at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, 7130 Harrison Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45247.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the SPCA or an animal charity of your choice, honoring Jo’s lifelong dedication to the animals she loved.

JoAnn Kohus will be deeply missed. Her spirit of love and creativity will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
