A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty L. Rains, who left us on September 30, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on June 10, 1937, in the beautiful setting of Speedwell, Tennessee, Betty spent much of her life in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she warmly shared her love and joy with family and friends.
Betty will be remembered for her incredible talents in the kitchen, where she found happiness in cooking and baking, creating delicious treats that brought everyone together. Her home was a haven filled with the sweet aromas of her baked goods, and everyone loved going to Grandma’s house for those special moments. She had a special knack for sewing and crocheting, often dedicating her time to crafting exquisite quilts that her family will cherish forever.
A true lover of nature, Betty, tended a beautiful flower garden that brightened not only her home but also the lives of all who had the privilege of seeing it. Her beloved miniature dachshund, Holly, was a cherished companion, and the bond they shared was a testament to her love for animals.
Betty’s family was her pride and joy. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Harvey Rains, loving mother to her sons, Mark and Donald (Mary) Rains, and her daughter, Edna (Larry) Blust. Her heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren: Jamie (Angela), Todd (Angela), Candice, Aaron (Amanda), Mark, Katelyn (Michael), and Caitlin as well as her great-grandchildren, Reese, Breana, James, Kaylynn, Noah, Brooklynn, Hoyt, Emmerick, and Bennett. In her younger years, she cherished the time spent babysitting her grandchildren and baking with them, creating lasting memories in the kitchen filled with laughter and love.
A faithful member of her church, Betty, found community, and support among her fellow parishioners, who will miss her spirit and warmth.
Betty’s family invites you to honor her memory and celebrate her life during the upcoming services. A visitation will be held at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., and she will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Acacia.
As we gather to say our goodbyes, we will remember Betty not only for her talents and passions but for the unconditional love she shared with all of us. We carry her legacy of kindness, creativity, and family love in our hearts forever.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Edna Hunley, her beloved husband, Harvey Rains, son Bobby Rains, and her faithful companion Bella.

“Betty was a very kind lady. Our family has spent many good times, Birthdays, get-togethers and I still have the lap blanket she crocheted for Earnie and my 25th Anniversary! That was many, many years ago and it’s as lovely as when we first received it. She will be missed. Blust and Perry Family”
