Steven H. Gillis, 72, born September 22, 1950, in Jacksonville, Tennessee, was called home to our Lord Jesus on September 9, 2023, in Henryville, Indiana. Steve may have lost his battle with cancer but he went home victorious as a child of God. Among the many services he provided in his life, most noteworthy was his dedication to Jesus, his service with the Butler County Mounted Patrol, his participation as a Civil War re-enactor, and his service to our troops as a civilian contractor in the Middle East. Steve was proceeded in death by his mother Iva (Johnson) Gillis and his father James Gillis, with whom he will be laid to rest. Steve left behind his daughter, Tamara Marshall (Matthew), son Joshua Gillis, son Jacob Gillis (Katlin), stepdaughter Holly (Campbell) Ruscher (Andrew), grandchildren Stephen, Kylie, and Rebecca Marshall, and great-grandson Estes Marshall (Stephen and Bailee). Steve’s family did not stop at the immediate, as he left behind many uncles, aunts, and cousins in Ohio, Tennessee, and Florida.
