Susan A. Swearingen

Susan Amy Swearingen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on October 31, 2023, in Hamilton, Ohio. Born on August 13, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Susan lived a life full of love, joy, and dedication to her family.

Susan excelled academically and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Saint Joseph University, which laid the foundation for her successful career as a Grant Writer in the healthcare industry. Her passion and commitment led her to the University of Cincinnati, where she made significant contributions to the field.

Outside of her professional life, Susan was a woman of diverse interests. She found solace in crafting, machine sewing, and completing intricate jig saw puzzles. Her kitchen was filled with the heavenly aroma of her homemade baked goods and her legendary Christmas cookies, a tradition that will forever be cherished by her loved ones.

Family was everything to Susan. She adored spending time with her husband, Eddy Swearingen, whom she met in 1990 and shared a beautiful life with. She was an incredible mother to her blended family which included her daughters, Angela (Steven) Dooley and Melanie Knight, her bonus sons, Todd Swearingen and Troy (Sharon) Swearingen. A devoted grandmother to Zachary Leftenant, Abigail Schwab, Rebecca Dooley, Joseph McDonald, Tyler McDonald, Alex Swearingen, Zachary Swearingen, and Kayla Swearingen. A great grandmother to Zolani Leftenant, Zekiel Leftenant, and McKenzie McDonald.

As an avid traveler, Susan embarked on countless adventures. Whether it was taking a road trip in her beloved RV or exploring the beautiful islands of Hawaii and the sunny beaches of Florida, she found immense joy in experiencing new places and creating lasting memories with her family.

Susan had a genuine love for her family’s achievements and passions. She never missed an opportunity to watch her grandchildren participate in sports events, cheering them on with unwavering support from the sidelines.

With a zest for life, Susan’s favorite color, blue, captured her vibrant spirit and positive energy. She particularly enjoyed traveling during the springtime, embracing the beauty of nature and the rebirth of the world around her.

In addition to her family and personal pursuits, Susan was also known for her dedication to healthcare as a grant writer. Through her diligent work, she contributed to improving the lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on the healthcare community.

Susan will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving, kind-hearted woman who embraced life with open arms. Her legacy will continue through the cherished memories she created and the immeasurable love she gave to her family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Susan’s life will be held at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum, 2145 Compton Road, 45231 on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 12:00 PM, followed by the inurnment in the Garden of Nativity.
