Every known system to humanity, whether it’s natural, mechanical, or human, relies on a steady force that moves quietly and often remains unseen. They don’t attract attention. They don’t seek credit. But they do hold things together.

At Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, we recognize those steady traits in our new General Manager, Bill Hoelscher.

Bill’s Experience in the Funeral Industry

With over 30 years of experience in funeral home and cemetery management, Bill enters his new role at Arlington not with fanfare, but with the expertise of someone who has encountered both burdens and blessings over time. His leadership style is not performative; instead, it has been developed and shaped through many years of navigating grief’s intricate and often fragile architecture.

Bill’s journey began in Cincinnati and Tipton, Indiana, towns known for their strong values. He earned his degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and then dedicated himself to serving others. His early career with the Loewen Group, where he managed several funeral homes and cemeteries, exposed him to the scale of logistics and the intimacy of final farewells. Later, at Service Corporation International, the world’s largest deathcare organization, he sharpened his ability to transition between operations and systems seamlessly.

But numbers alone fail to tell the whole story.

For two decades, Bill also served in the Springfield Township Fire Department, Clark County, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant and Safety Officer, a position similar to his current one. In both roles, he is called upon to remain calm amid chaos, precise in the face of pain, and human when confronted with loss.

The firehouse discipline combined with funeral home compassion makes Bill more than just a manager; he is a steward and a builder of systems that protect dignity and enhance care.

At home, Bill has experienced another kind of adventure. He and his wife of 28 years have raised triplet sons. His personal life, like his professional one, is filled with coordination, devotion, and quiet triumphs that often go unnoticed by the outside world.

We welcome Bill for his knowledge and beliefs: that every person matters, that every moment counts, and that excellence is not an act but a habit formed over time.
