Alfred (Al ) Leslie Edwards passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024 at 100 years old after a life well-lived.

Al Edwards was born on August 18, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He grew up in Northern Kentucky and the Green Hills suburb of Cincinnati.

Al was drafted into the Army at the age of 18 and proudly served the 605th Tank Destroyer Battalion where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. When he returned home from the war, he attended the University of Cincinnati and received his degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Cincinnati Milacron for many years until retirement.

Al married the love of his life, Mary Ann Moree, and they purchased their home in Reading, Ohio in 1952 where Al lived until his passing. In 1960, Al and Mary Ann were blessed with their loving daughter, Lisa Ann Edwards, who they both adored.

Al had many passions. Most notably, he was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Reading since 1953. He loved to play golf, cards, vacation and socialize with his family and friends. Al was a loyal fan of the Cincinnati Reds, University of Cincinnati and Bengals. He thoroughly enjoyed his dinner parties with his friends, family, and neighbors and frying green tomatoes.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl (Hale) Murphy and Virgil Edwards; his wife, Mary Ann (Moree) Edwards; his loving daughter, Lisa Ann Edwards; his sister, Helen Truslow, and his brother, Bud Edwards. Al was dearly loved by his family, friends and neighbors. He was always a bright and shining light in this world and will be forever missed.

Services will be held at the St. John United Church of Christ in Reading, Ohio on October 30th. Visitation will start at 10:00 am with funeral services at 11:00 am immediately following the funeral services, there will be a brief graveside service at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Freestore Foodbank or St. John United Church of Christ.
