Alice May Kent

In Loving Memory of Alice May Kent

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alice May Kent, a cherished mother, sister, and friend to many. Born on May 8, 1933, in Loveland, OH, Alice’s kind and compassionate spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She peacefully passed away on October 4, 2024, in Cincinnati, OH.

Alice’s remaining legacy includes her children; Janet (the late Randy) Robinson, Peggy (John) Flaig, and Michael (Diane) Multner, her grandchildren; Kelly Blom, Jill Blom, Tracy Blom (Zack Herbholz) and Carly Flaig, her great grandchildren; Selda and Hayden Stephens, her sister Linda Kneipp (Vic Haul), and Nick Gallant stepson to Linda. Alice was a beloved homemaker who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a dedicated member of the Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church and the Colerain Senior Center, where she created the poker club and spent many hours enjoying the game with friends. In her earlier years she was a coach for a girls soft ball team. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She embraced the friendships of Northgate Park activities, particularly her favorite, Bingo.

A social butterfly by nature, Alice cherished spending time with her family and neighbors, engaging in games and creating lasting memories. Evenings with Johnny Carson provided her solace after putting her children to bed, and backyard movie nights watching home movies and fireworks at Stricker’s Grove were cherished moments.

Known affectionately as the “Cookie Mom” to her daughter’s Girl Scout Troops, Alice’s homemade vegetable soup and goetta were legendary in their deliciousness. She found comfort in listening to talk radio, with her favorite song being “Amazing Grace,” particularly when sung by Reverend Weaver.

Alice was known for her sense of humor and wit. She treasured family photos, particularly the “Stairway Pictures,” taken each Christmas for over 30 years.

She enjoyed fishing at “her private pond” with her husband, Bob, and tending to her beautiful rose garden. In her later years, she had the joy of traveling adventures with her second husband Jim.

In the 1950s, Alice’s fishing prowess earned her recognition from the State of Ohio for catching the largest bluegill. Her zest for life and love for her family were undeniable, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Please join us in celebrating Alice’s life at the upcoming memorial services. The Visitation and Service will take place at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, October 21, 2024, beginning at 11:00 am. Together, we will pay tribute to a remarkable woman who brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Alice’s life to Clippard YMCA, 8920 Cheviot Road, Cincinnati, OH 45251 ATTN: Nora Dashley.

Though Alice may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by her parents, Dillon Reif and Vera Kneipp, her husbands, Robert Multner and Jim Kent, her siblings Roberta McIntyre and Catherine Meinen, and her daughter Deborah Gridley.

“I am very sorry to be unable to attend the services for Alice May. She & her family lived right next door. Alice was essentially a 2nd Mom to me & my 7 siblings during all of my formative years. How incredibly lucky we were! Love & hugs to Linda, Janet, Peggy & Mike.”

“Thinking about you and Janet and your family at this time of loss. Much love to you all 💕”

“Sweet Linda you have been on my mind the last couple of weeks because of all the weather activity in Florida, not really knowing if you were in Ohio or Florida. So sorry to hear about your sister, Alice. So glad that you were able to be close to her for the last several years of her life.”
