Arthur Robert Bauer

July 3, 1939 – February 2, 2025

Arthur Robert Bauer

Arthur Robert Bauer, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated engineer, passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 85, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on July 3, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Art lived a life filled with love for his family, passion for his profession, a love of learning, and devotion to his family.

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky in 1963, Arthur embarked on a remarkable career at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where he worked for over three decades in the fields of nuclear engineering and electrical engineering. Known for his analytical mind and attention to detail, he served in various roles, including as an Instrumentation Engineer and later as the chief of the Non-Destructive Testing Branch, earning the respect of his colleagues in the engineering community. A proud member of Tau Beta Pi and a lifetime member of IEEE, Art’s commitment to his profession was evident throughout his career.

Outside of work, Arthur found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid gardener, particularly fond of growing tomatoes, and he loved sharing his culinary creation, the family-favorite Daddy’s Chili. His thirst for knowledge led him to take classes across numerous subjects, and he actively participated in Toastmasters for 40 years, honing his public speaking skills while taking on leadership roles within the club. He ultimately achieved the titles of Advanced Toastmaster and Competent Leader.

Art was not only a dedicated professional but also a devoted family man. He and his beloved wife, Kathleen, celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage, a bond strengthened by their shared faith at Mosaic Church, formerly known as St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Arthur’s love extended to his daughters, Karen and Becky, and his grandsons, Jacob and Alex, who will forever hold fond memories of their time together. He also enjoyed travel and conversations with his sister Dolores and brother Carl.

Active in his community, Art volunteered at Carriage Hill Farm and Wartinger Park, showing his appreciation for nature and history through his involvement with the Beavercreek Historical Society and the Beavercreek Wetlands Association. He loved traveling with Road Scholars across the United States, always eager to learn more about the world.

Art is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Bauer; daughters, Karen (David) Bowe and Becky (James) Reed; and grandsons, Jacob Reed and Alex Reed. He is also survived by his sister Dolores (Gerald) Shannon and brother Carl (Barbara) Bauer as well as several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to family and community.

A celebration of Arthur Robert Bauer’s life will take place at a later time to be determined by family.
