It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara M. McKinney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on April 16, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on April 30, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara lived a life filled with service, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Barbara was a housewife devoted to taking care of her home and children. She later worked as an administrative assistant at Pleasant Run Presbyterian Church. Barbara enjoyed listening to books on tape and watching various comedies on BBC.
She is survived by her loving husband, David “Dave” McKinney. Barbara’s love will continue to shine through her sons, Steven (Kay) McKinney and Alan (Jennifer) McKinney, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Bailey, Timothy, Lily, Ruby, Eve, Azalea, Owen, and Mia. Her family was her pride, and she took great joy in their accomplishments and happiness. Barbara is also remembered by her beloved niece, Theresa Sutton, and her cousin, Dana Etter.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marilyn Ott, and sister, Kristine Sutton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 from 10:00-11:00am at College Hill Presbyterian Church, 5742 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45224. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place at 1:00pm at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum, 4521 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45232 (those attending please meet at the front gate).
Barbara M. McKinney will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
