Charles Albert Faidley

**Celebrating the Life of Charles Albert Faidley**

It is with both sadness and joy that we celebrate the life of Charles Albert Faidley, who left us peacefully on January 19, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on July 29, 1936, in Akron, OH, Chuck was the youngest of three children, joining his brother Jack and sister Mary K. in creating a life filled with stories, laughter and love.

A true bibliophile and lifelong learner, Chuck spent his career as a dedicated librarian, ultimately serving as the head librarian of the North Central Branch Library in Cincinnati. His love for books was rivalled only by his passion for storytelling; he would remind us never to let the truth get in the way of a good story. Beyond the library walls, Chuck was a man of many interests. He was a former minor league baseball player, who combined his athletic spirit with his love for the outdoors through fishing and cycling along the beautiful bike paths in the Cincinnati area.

In addition to his love for the literary world, Chuck had an adventurous spirit, traveling extensively in Europe. He embraced new cultures and languages, speaking both German and Swedish. He made memories that defined his life, sharing his curious mind with everyone around him.

Chuck leaves behind a close-knit family, including his niece Michele Hervol and his nephews, Eric and Mark Hervol, who will carry on his legacy of curiosity, humor, and love.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ellen Faidley (nee Alexis), his brother Jack Faidley and sister Mary K. Hervol.

We will gather to honor Chuck’s remarkable journey on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park).

Join us in celebrating a life well-lived, filled with stories, laughter and a voracious appetite for knowledge. Chuck, your stories will continue to inspire, and your laughter will echo in our hearts forever.

“I am so sad to hear of the passing of Chuck. He was a wonderful companion and friend to my Aunt Faye. They were so good for each other. They visited each other almost every day, for I believe, nearly 30 years. And when they weren’t together, they were talking on the phone several times per day. Aunt Faye was as devoted to Chuck as he was to her. It was a beautiful close and loving friendship. We should all be so lucky as Aunt Faye and Chuck, to have someone so special to spend precious time through the tender years. My sincere condolences to Chuck’s niece, and nephews and for my sweet Aunt Faye, you have your precious memories to bring you comfort and joy. May he rest in eternal peace.”
