Clifford Edward Retzsch

november 10, 1950 – september 23, 2024

Clifford Edward Retzsch

Clifford Edward Retzsch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on November 10, 1950, in Cincinnati, OH. On September 23, 2024, this remarkable man passed away, surrounded by his loving family.

Cliff was a man of many passions. He adored golden retrievers, spending time with his family, and watching the Reds, Bengals, little league baseball and college softball. A true outdoorsman, he found joy in yardwork, camping, fishing, hunting deer, and riding motorcycles. In his earlier years, he displayed his craftsmanship skills through woodworking and carpentry.

Music from the 60s and 70s resonated with Cliff, and he loved entertaining family while enjoying his favorite tunes. Always ready to lend a hand, Cliff was known for his helpful and social nature, making connections wherever he went. His act of bravery in saving a little boy’s life was recognized by the City of Fairfield, leading to the declaration of October 14th as Clifford Retzsch Day in his honor.

Cliff’s crowning achievement was his endearing marriage to Susan, whom he met at a friend’s wedding and shared over 50 years of love. Together, they raised Christine, Patrick (Angie), and Jeremy (Amy), creating a legacy of warmth and love. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Justin, Jared, Kaleb, Ethan, Josh, Peyton, Abigail, Alanah, Maddox, Grace, Parker, Addison, Kendall, Isla, Elin, and Britta, his siblings; Herbert (Beverly) and Lorraine (Bruce), and a host of other family and friends.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Virginia Retzsch (nee Beerman), and nephew, Zachary Raymond.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Cliff’s life on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 am. A burial will immediately follow in the Garden of Resurrection.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cliff’s memory to any animal shelter/rescue of your choice.

Cliff’s legacy of loyalty, humor, and meticulousness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. In his memory, let us come together to celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that touched so many.

“My deepest sympathy to Cliff’s family. He was one of the best men I have ever known and a true friend to anyone that knew him. He was like a big brother to me and I treasure all the time that I got to spend over the years hanging out and camping with Cliff and Sue. May you rest in peace and know that you left a tremendous legacy with the family you you and Sue raised.”
