Obituary via Vitt Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home

Dalon Ilo Foley, a man of God, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great grandfather, passed away on June 9, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on August 21, 1930, in Russell County, Kentucky, Dalon exemplified a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and service to his country.

For 60 wonderful years, he was the loving husband of Jenny Charlice Foley (nee Martin). Their union was a testament to devotion and companionship, with each moment cherished through the decades. Dalon took great pride in being a father to his beloved children: Carolyn (James) Engle, Wilbur Dale (Darlene) Foley, David Foley, and the late Michael Dalon Foley. He was a steadfast provider, embodying the role of a nurturing father whose love knew no bounds.

As the proud grandfather of Lisa (Nick), Heather (Joe), Karrie, Amanda (Bill), Tadd (Sharon), Matthew (Jen), Christopher, Dalon (Allie), Jenna, and Josh (Ashlee), Dalon modeled strength and compassion, imparting wisdom and guidance to each generation that followed. He was especially proud to be the great-grandfather of Tyler (Brittney), Tiara (Matthew), Ashley (Nicholas), Taylor (Mark), Caleb (Faith), Madison, Isabella, Mason, Colton, Chloe, Will, Wyatt, Dominic, Lacey, Judah, and the great-great-grandfather of Cameron, John, Carter, Marley, Thea, and Emmalynn.

Dalon served honorably in the United States Army Infantry as a combat veteran during the Korean War, a chapter of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism. He was known for his daily rituals, including raising and lowering the American flag every day with pride, a reflection of his commitment to his country.

After his years in the military, Dalon worked as a machinist at OPW Union, contributing to the workforce with the same dedication he applied to all aspects of his life. His interests included fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren—activities that brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

Remembered for his warm personality, Dalon loved his wife and family more than anything. His community will recall fondly simple memories shared with him, such as his unique homemade chocolate gravy and biscuits, a culinary delight that brought family and friends together.

Dalon Ilo Foley leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and family pride. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Lola Foley. The family invites everyone to honor his memory on June 15, 2025, between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM during visitation at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, located at 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45238. Interment will follow on June 16, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231. A funeral service is scheduled for June 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same funeral home.
