DAN JOSEPH RUNDELL

1930 – 2022

Dan Rundell, age 92, passed away on November 21, 2022.

Dan was born in Elfrida, AZ to Marion and Ione Rundell. Dan married Peggy Lane of Burkburnett, Texas on September 17, 1988, in Hamilton, Ohio.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Rundell; his children, Rob (Arden) Rundell and Lydia (Eric) Rundell-Gjerde; stepchildren, Barton Green and Brian Lane Green; grandchildren, Miriam Rundell, Luke Gjerde, and Tor Gjerde; a sister, Rhoda Watson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice McGowan Rundell (mother of his children), as well as by his parents, his brother Paul Rundell, and his brother-in-law Bill Watson.

Dan’s father was a farmer, miner, and preacher in the Bisbee, Arizona area. Dan attended the University of Arizona, getting a degree in Mechanical Engineering while putting himself through college by working in the pea harvest in the Palouse region of Washington and Oregon. After college, he joined General Electric as a research engineer, ultimately settling in a role with their aircraft engine business in Cincinnati. Apart from a five-year stint at North American in Long Beach, California, where he worked on advanced aircraft such as the XB-70, he remained at GE in Cincinnati until retirement, working on engines that power many of the aircraft still flying to this day.

Dan was also active in his church throughout the years, serving on the council, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering in various roles, including interim clerk.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 28, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Stratford Heights Church of God, 4419 Nelson Road, 45042.

Services for Dan Rundell will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Stratford Heights Church of God, with Pastor Ray Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, 45231.
