The world was blessed by David D. Manning, a proud and dedicated servant to his country, community, and loved ones. He was called to rest on August 9, 2024, in Cincinnati, OH. Born on March 31, 1949, in Chattanooga, TN by his loving mother Bessie Elder. David was a cherished husband to Sarah Manning for over a decade, a loving father to his daughter Anita (Michael) Fairbanks, and stepdaughter Stephaine Green. He also leaves to cherish ten grandkids and six great grandkids, nieces and his nephew in whom he was a guided figure.
David D. Manning was preceded in death by his mother Bessie Elder, and his siblings, Robert Lee (Glenda) Manning, Ruth Christine Pryor and John Otis Elder Jr.
Having served in the US Army as a Sergeant 1st Class for over 22 years, including two tours in the Vietnam War, David was a true patriot who exemplified leadership and dedication. His commitment extended beyond his military service, as he continued to excel as a supervisor in the entertainment industry at Time Warner, showcasing his exceptional skills and expertise cultivated during his years of service.
A true outdoorsman at heart, David found solace and joy in his ventures as an avid hunter and fisherman. His love for the open waters was evident through his ownership of two boats, where he spent quality time with his close friend John, exploring the serene waters of Lake Erie. A skilled hunter, David eagerly awaited his biannual hunting trips for white-tail deer with John, demonstrating his passion for nature and the thrill of the hunt.
His eclectic taste in music, with a fondness for classic artists like Bobby Womack and Etta James, highlighted his vibrant personality and appreciation for timeless melodies.
A celebration of David’s life will take place at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Visitation at 11:30 AM. Service at 12:30 PM. A Graveside service will take place on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 2:30 PM at Arlington Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Patriotism. David D. Manning will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication, strong leadership, and love for his family and friends. As we honor his remarkable journey, may his legacy continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched.
