Derek Deron Grant Sr.

june 23, 1970 – april 10, 2024

Derek Deron Grant Sr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Derek Deron Grant Sr., who was born on June 23, 1970, in Cincinnati, OH, to his parents Richard Sr. and Annie Grant. He departed this world on April 10, 2024, at the age of 53 in his hometown of Cincinnati, OH.

Derek was known for his culinary prowess, serving as a chef and grill master at Goodies for many years. He began his career at the early age of 15 and dedicated himself to creating delicious dishes that brought joy to many. His passion for cooking extended beyond the kitchen, where he loved nothing more than creating meals for his cherished family.

Derek was preceded in death by his father, Richard Grant Sr.

Derek leaves to cherish his devoted wife Lisa Grant, sharing seven beautiful years together with a blended family. He was a proud father to his children Derek Jr. (Doddi), Bianca (DaQuana), Avia (DeAngelo), Jasmine (Deshyia), and Karissa, fostering a close bond with each of them. The grandfather of 13 amazing grandchildren, Elijiah, Kaori, Ke’Aziah, Clarence, Dereona, Ariel, Love, Kaden, Melanie, Derek III, DeAaron, Kinsley, and Kobe. Derek was also a loving brother to Richard Jr. (Sabine), Cheryl (David), and Venita. A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Derek was a family man through and through, relishing in vacations and quality time spent with his loved ones. His warmth and humor brightened every room he entered, and he found joy in simple pleasures like visiting the movie theater, savoring tasty food, and engaging in friendly jokes with his loved ones.

We will celebrate Derek’s life and legacy with memorial services and ceremonies that honor the wonderful memories he has left us with on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line to the left upon entering the memorial gardens). Celebration of Life Memorial will begin at 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

As we prepare to bid farewell to a man who brought so much love and laughter into our lives, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

Forever missed and never forgotten, Derek Deron Grant Sr. touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and culinary delights. May he rest in eternal peace.

Donations can be made in memory of Derek’s life to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention https://supporting.afsp.org/.

“Daddy, I miss you more and more everyday. I think these past few days reality really set in, that you are no longer here with us. I miss you Daddy. I just wanted to finish school to be your nurse. I wish you could have held on much longer. I wasn’t ready daddy. I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye. There’s so much that we needed to do together. We’re hurting daddy. I love you so much. Your baby girl, Bianca”
