Doyle R. Spradlin

It is with heavy hearts but joyful memories that we announce the passing of Doyle R. Spradlin, who left this world on July 17, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 15, 1951, in Cincinnati, OH, Doyle lived a vibrant life filled with adventure, laughter, and love.

Doyle was not just a dedicated accountant for the City of Cincinnati; he was a beloved brother, a vibrant “Troubadour of Yore,” and an avid sports enthusiast. His love for his city shone through in his loyalty to the Reds, Bengals, and Bearcats, and he cherished the community that raised him.

Doyle is survived by his loving sister, Norma Lynn, his favorite niece, Stephanie (Bob) Purdon, his nephews Ron and Randy Lynn, his great nieces, Lauren (Adam) Robbins and Abigail Purdon and his great nephew Michael Purdon.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Dester and Mazie Spradlin (nee Neal) and his brother, Roger Spradlin.

An outdoor lover at heart, Doyle enjoyed over 30 years working for Cincinnati Parks, where he reveled in the beauty of nature. He was passionate about his hobbies, spending countless hours on the golf course, playing or coaching softball and diving into spirited volleyball matches with friends. Being a world traveler, he made memories that would last a lifetime, all while sharing tales and songs as the always in spirit Troubadour at family gatherings.

Doyle was especially fond of the Christmas season and the 4th of July, celebrating with family and friends, creating lasting traditions and unforgettable experiences. He enjoyed quiet afternoons of movie-watching and lunches with his beloved sister, Norma Lynn, cherishing those moments of connection.

A Celebration of Life will be held later for family and friends. We ask at that time that you join us as we share stories, celebrate his passions, and remember the indelible mark that Doyle R. Spradlin left in our hearts. Let us come together for one last golf swing, a toast with good food, and the music that filled his soul. Doyle may have left this earth, but his spirit of joy and adventure will forever resonate in our lives.

Guest Book

“Lots of wonderful memories of Doyle with all our friends from the UPDOWNTERS”S.”

“Beautifully said ! I enjoyed many great years with Doyle at the Recreation Department. He always came to my aid of song writing by playing guitar at the Department Christmas parties. This is where we roasted well deserved employees. He was a regular at Party in the Park when I worked at Sawyer Point. And my husband even bought one of his many houses in Northside to rehab. What a character!. He was like the Mayor, everyone knew him! He will be sorely missed.”

“What a fantastic tribute to Doyle. I will cherish many fun memories of Doyle, especially from Alice Hoctor’s golf outings. My most recent memory is of his love of playing his guitar and singing music at Weidemann’s. Cheers to Doyle! To his family, wishing you peace and comfort!”
