Edward “Ed” Earl Walton

October 21, 1947 – October 13, 2026

Edward “Ed” Earl Walton

Edward “Ed” Earl Walton, a veteran and man of faith, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, just days shy of his 79th birthday. He was 78.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 21, 1947, Ed proudly served his country in the United States Navy before pursuing higher education, eventually earning his Master’s Degree. For many years, he applied his meticulous nature and strong work ethic to his career as an accountant at Union Institute and University.

Beyond his professional life, Ed was focused on his faith. He was a dedicated member of White Oak Christian Church and found great joy and fellowship in singing Sacred Harp music.

Ed is now reunited in peace with his beloved wife, Glenda Walton; his cherished daughter, Amy Phillips; his parents, Earl and Lillie; and his brother, Dan Walton. He is survived by his son, Joshua “Josh” Walton, and his wife, Elizabeth; his son-in-law, Eric Phillips; and his six treasured grandchildren: Lawson, Wade, Grace, Isaac, Cecilia, and Rachel.

Family and friends will gather to honor Ed’s life on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (please follow the BLUE line). “Tom and I will always remember Ed’s love for Jesus. His knowledge of scripture was admirable. We enjoyed sitting and having conversations with Ed as he often taught us new things. We are praying for your family.”

“Ed was such a wonderful friend,he was not only a friend to John and I, but I appreciated that he took over leading celebrate recovery when I stepped down. His ministry touched so many people and he always put God first. I know the loss he had with his cherished wife and daughter who he is now reunited with. Our prayers go to the family during this difficult time.”

“Ed was much more than a cherished friend. He truly was a devoted man of God, a student and teacher of scripture, a mentor, a coworker in God’s kingdom and a partner in ministry. Ed helped to change the trajectory not only of my life, but the direction of my family. Ed will be sorely missed, but I rejoice with him as he stands before, sings and worships the Lord he faithfully loved and served so well.”
