ELAINE (ELLRHORST) MCSURDY, 87, of Hilliard, passed away on December 9, 2025. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 5, 1938, to her parents Elmer and Blanche (Craig) Ellerhorst.

Elaine loved her family, especially her loving husband Don who preceded her in death in 2024. Alongside Don, Elaine loved traveling together in their motor home, affectionately named the “bus house” by their grandchildren, to visit other family members and campout along the way. She loved hummingbirds, and she always enjoyed watching them outside of her home on the various feeders she had out for them. Hummingbirds will continue to be a symbol of Elaine and her presence to her family. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, and being an affectionate grandma was her greatest joy. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind to cherish her memory.

Elaine is survived by her children Deborah Garza, Craig (Danielle) McSurdy, Lisa (Chris) Connelly, and Jeffery Spreen; grandchildren Heidi (Gabe) Hall, Heather (Andrew) Wathen, Brenna (Caleb) McPeek, Ian McSurdy, Aimee (Paul) Baker, Cameron Connelly, and Peter Connelly; great-grandchildren Lane, Joey, and Cameron Hall, Carter and Elijah Wathen, and Sheridan Baker. Elaine is preceded in death by her husband Donald McSurdy, her parents, and sons Tim Spreen and Bruce (Melanie) McSurdy. Visitation for Elaine will be held in conjuncture with her son, Tim Spreen’s, memorial on Sunday December 28, 2025, from 2-4pm at LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with the funeral ceremony beginning at 4:00pm and a reception to follow at The Landing at Littleton & Rue. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Inn at Library Way as well as Capital City Hospice for their outstanding care and attentiveness.
