Obituary via Mihovk Rosenacker

Esther Viola Goldfuss (nee Laaker) was born on May 12, 1928, to the late Clifford and Rosa Laaker in Dillsboro, Indiana. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022, in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 94.

Esther was one of four children, three girls and a boy. Their parents raised them on a farm in Dillsboro without electricity or running water. On the farm, she and her siblings learned the importance of hard work. Esther noted she could milk a cow faster than her father!

Being born into a Christian family she was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and eventually would attend the parochial school at St. John, Farmers Retreat. Following eighth grade, Esther  attended Dillsboro High School and proudly graduated in 1946 with 16 others in her class.

After high school, Esther worked at Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana for two years. She then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and worked as a maid for a local family. Once she was able to save enough money, Esther attended Campbells Business School. After graduation, she became a secretary at the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission.

Eventually, Esther moved to Clifton and began dating Bill Goldfuss. Their first date was at the La Rosa’s on Boudinot Ave. which had just opened. She and Bill were married on April 30, 1955. Esther and her husband loved the Lord, and she praised the Lord for being so blessed.

Like their marriage, Esther and Bill were blessed with a beautiful family who survive them, including their loving children, Carol (Mike) Schiele and Gary (Kris) Goldfuss; and cherished grandchildren: Ben and Brad Schiele and Kaitlyn, Nick, and Adam (Courtney) Goldfuss.

In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her dear siblings Ruth Hessel, Verna Beatty, and Virgil Laaker. She will be missed tremendously by all who were blessed to have known her.

Memorial Gathering in her honor will take place on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 10:30am until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00pm, both at Grace Lutheran Church, 3628 Boudinot Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45211.
