Evelyn B. Kuhlmann

Evelyn B. Kuhlmann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished friend, took her final journey on July 27, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on March 29, 1927, in Cincinnati, Evelyn lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure, always embracing the beauty of each moment.

Evelyn started working at the young age of 16, holding a variety of roles that displayed her hard work and determination. From her early days as a messenger at Wright Aeronautical to her time at the Lyons Insurance Agency and then Sheppard Elevator manning the tool bin, she exemplified a tenacious spirit. Although life presented challenges, including the need to attend night school to earn her high school diploma from Hughes High School, Evelyn overcame every obstacle with grace and grit.

Her passion led her to become a dedicated school bus driver for the Talawanda School District. She loved being part of the lives of her young passengers and took pride in ensuring their safety. Beyond the school bus, Evelyn’s heart lived on the family farm, where she enjoyed driving the tractor during hay season and caring for calves.

Evelyn was a nurturing and involved mother to her four children, Ronald, Karen, William, and James. She found joy engaging with the community through activities like being a Brownie leader, being a member of the Flores Amo Garden Club (once winning “Best of Show” at the Butler County Fair), the Progressive Literary Club, the Eastern Star, and as a longtime member of the Millville-McGonigle Methodist Church (once serving as Treasurer).

Travel was one of Evelyn’s greatest joys. With a spirit of adventure that took her to all 50 states, camping in most, and exploring the cultures of Europe and Australia, she created unforgettable memories.

Evelyn is survived by her loving children, Karen and William; her grandchildren, Melissa (Tom) Gordon, Kristine (Kevin) Kraft, and Courtney (Adam) Thompson; her great-grandchildren, Luke Kraft and Rilyn Thompson, and longtime family and friends, Peg Carney, Sonia Kuhlmann, and Gail and Bob Hauer. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Casper and Louise Klein, her beloved husband, William Kuhlmann, her sons Ronald and James (Andrea), a great grandchild, Liam Kraft, and her sisters, Louise Klein and Helen Rummel.

A graveside service honoring Evelyn’s life will be held at Arlington Memorial Gardens (2145 Compton Road in Springfield Twp) in the Garden of Memories on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 12 noon, when family and friends will gather to honor her spirit and share memories.
