Fert Vincent Quatromani

Fert Vincent Quatromani, a beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, step-grandfather, great-grandfather, and step-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on October 27, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Fert led a life rich in music, service, and community, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Fert grew up on Liberty Hill in Cincinnati, where the values of family, faith, and hard work were instilled in him from an early age. He attended St. Francis Seraph School and later Roger Bacon High School before finishing his education at Woodward High School, where he proudly served as the drum major and showcased his talent with the baton. His educational journey continued at the University of Cincinnati until duty called and he was drafted into the Army, where he served with honor in the United States Army Chemical Corps. Fert’s dedication to his country saw him through basic training at Ft. McClellan before being appointed as a Military Police officer in Mercury, Nevada, where he played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of his fellow service members during pivotal tests of atomic bombs. Afterward, he took on the mantle of Drill Instructor back at Ft. McClellan, shaping the lives of countless soldiers.

In civilian life, Fert found fulfillment as an Orthopedic Shoe Salesman, where he was known for his dedication and creativity. He would meticulously design window displays at various businesses that showcased his flair for presentation. Fert’s entrepreneurial spirit blossomed when, at just 16 years old, he opened his own dry-cleaning business, aptly named “FERT,” on Pendleton Street in Mt. Auburn after working at his parents dry cleaning business from a young age, a testament to his fastidious nature and deep pride in his work. Fert also owned Mr. Q’s Raceway in Cheviot, which he ran alongside his sons who carry on the tradition of racing to this day.

Fert’s Italian heritage was a source of immense pride, and he often delighted in sharing the story behind his name- the name Fert came from his father’s shoulder patch which he wore in World War 1 and is an acronym for the motto of the Savoy family in Italy. He was enamored with music throughout his life, playing various instruments, playing ukulele at age 5, violin at age 9, mandolin at age 10, keyboard, and clarinet—earning first chair clarinet in high school while able to play songs by ear. He devoted time to his community, serving as a ticket taker at the Aronhoff and volunteering for over 20 years at Entertrainment Junction. Fert was also known for his exquisite crafted displays each Christmas especially the fantastic train and lighted house displays

Above all, Fert treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Quatromani; his sons, Vincenzo (Pam) Quatromani and Andrew (Karen) Quatromani; grandson, Christopher Quatromani; step-grandchildren Shawn Berning and Robert (Missy) Rauen great-grandchild, Hunter Quatromani; step-great-grandchildren, Tye Rauen, Bailey Rauen, and Rose Rauen.

Fert was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo (from Calabria, Italy) and Pauline (from Palermo, Sicily) Quatromani, step-daughter, Patricia Berning, and step-grandchild, Luke Berning.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1^st, 2026 from 6:00-8:00pm at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE line). Mass will be held on Friday, October 2^nd, 2026 at 10:30am at St. Martin of Tours, 3720 St. Martins Place, Cincinnati, OH 45211. Burial will follow with full military honors at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
