Floyd James “Jim” Jones

Floyd James “Jim” Jones, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, military veteran and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on September 4, 2026, at the age of 87.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jones, the love of his life of more than 60 years; his daughter, Deborah Jones (Yaeger); his grandchildren, Gregory Whaley II, Nancy Whaley Rouse (Jeff), Holly Jones, and David Jones Jr. (Victoria); and his great-grandchildren, Gregory “Scott” Whaley III, Kyle Whaley, and his Gwendolyn Mae Rouse.

Floyd is also survived by his dear sister, Marie; nieces Glenda and Linda Conover; his beloved brother and neighbor Mikey Jones (Sabine); his niece and nephews Patsy Jones, Davey Jones (Julie), and “John John” Jones (Mary); his sons-in-law, Gregory Whaley and Troy Yaeger; his special nieces Toni Blackburn and Lisa Wetterich; and countless other dear family and friends.

Floyd was a proud military veteran who served in Korea as a guard and paratrooper. He was a devoted member of Hillsboro Baptist Church, blessed by pastor and friend, Keith Perkins (Annette). Floyd served as an usher, taught Sunday school, shared the Word of God with others, and found inspiration in watching Charles Stanley. He loved the Lord deeply and wanted others to know that same love.

One of Floyd’s greatest passions in life was fishing. He was a fisherman in every sense of the word, and a “fisher of men,” sharing his faith and wisdom wherever he went. After retiring, Floyd settled near Rocky Fork Lake, a special place that he loved dearly and where he wanted to remain. It was there that he spent many cherished years enjoying the outdoors, fishing, studying his Bible, cooking, laughing, and simply living life on his own terms.

Floyd was also a handy man, a talented painter, wonderful cook, jitterbug loving dancer, hard worker, and successful businessman. He loved to bowl, hunt, garden and teach others. He took great pride in his work and talents, and even more so, in his family.

Floyd’s final days were filled with a special birthday visit with his “Cutie” Carolyn and family in Cincinnati; blessed conversations with his nurse aide, Brandon; and enjoying the sunshine from the front porch he built by hand. True to the very end,

Floyd was determined, independent, stubborn, and funny. That was Floyd; always ready with a joke, prank, words of wisdom or a good story.

Floyd was preceded in death by his one and only son, David Jones; his mother, Nannie Jones; father, Noah Jones; his sisters, Mary, Lena and Barbara (Jones); his brother, Eugene; parents-in-law, John and Dottie Smallwood; brothers-in-law Charles and John “Bo” Smallwood and Bobby Wetterich; sisters-in-laws Shirley Wetterich (Don) and Sandy Smallwood; his beloved military guard dog, Duke; and his fishing buddy, Jack.

May all those who knew Floyd James “Jim” Jones find comfort in knowing that he is now with the Lord and has been reunited with those who went before him. He is smiling, laughing, and fishing with David once again.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11^th, 2026 from 12:30-1:30pm at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE line). A funeral service will follow at 1:30pm. Burial will take place at 2:30pm at Arlington Memorial Gardens.

Immediately following the services, friends and family are invited to continue celebrating Floyd’s life together with fellowship at Highgrain Brentwood at 9176 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
