Frances “Fran” Marie Lucas

NOVEMBER 4, 1947 – AUGUST 28, 2026

Frances “Fran” Marie Lucas

Frances “Fran” Marie Lucas, born November 4, 1947, passed away peacefully August 29, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer at the age of 78.

Fran was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to the late Louis and Rita Verno.

Fran was a not only a proud mother and grandmother, but she was also an entrepreneur and the owner of Fran’s, an American Sandwich Shop for twenty years. After that, Fran became a beloved Private Suite Attendant for over twenty years for her favorite baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds.

Fran’s uncanny wit, never-ending sense of humor, work ethic, and dedication to her family kept her busy for years. She loved volunteering her time as an Usher at the Aronoff Center; she enjoyed watching game shows, going to the casino with her friends, and made sure to always make time for her grandkids and attend their numerous activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rita Verno, and her niece, Tammy Verno.

She is survived by her son, Chris (Stacey) Lucas, her sister Florence (Joseph) Jordan, her brother Michael (Beverly) Verno, her grandchildren Emma (Tyler), Evan, and Olivia, along with many, many friends.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teams at Bayley Place and Good Samaritan Hospital, as well as Fran’s wonderful friends—Debbie, Marie, Pattie, Annette, and Jude, and many other friends. Thank you, Steve and Dianne Hoerst, for all their support. And finally, special thanks to Frances’s sister, Florence Jordan, for her support and being by Fran’s side every day.

Visitation will be held at St. Martin of Tours, 3720 St Martins Pl, Cincinnati, OH 45211, on September 8, 2026, at 9:30 am. Mass will follow at 10:30 AM.

To honor Fran, the family kindly requests that attendees wear pink or Cincinnati Reds gear, reflecting her vibrant spirit and love for the game.
