Harold Glenn Gibson, age 93, was called home on Sunday, October 9, 2022. He was born June 25, 1929 to Earl and Virginia (Lester) Gibson, the sixth of ten children. From Hebbardsville, KY he joined the Navy where he served as a radio technician on a battleship during the Korean War. Harold graduated from Murray State University where he met “our doll”, Jody Sweeney. In 1958 they moved from Kentucky to Cincinnati where Harold began his career in public education in the Northwest Local School District, serving for 28 years. His roles included history teacher, assistant principal at Colerain Jr. High School, and guidance counselor, and he was instrumental in launching the district’s vocational education program. He then worked as a constable in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. Harold and Jody enjoyed supporting their children and grandchildren in activities such as coaching his sons baseball teams and later rooting at football games and watching recitals. Their hobbies included golfing, square dancing, concerts, and traveling with friends and family. Harold will long be remembered as a man who never knew a stranger, impacted thousands of young lives, and lifted up everyone he met along the way.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, William, Arnold, Doug, and Calvin and sisters, Sis, and Bonnie. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jody; children, Rick (Kate), Mark (Cathy) and Holly (Kerry); 7 grandchildren Sean (Jules), Jenny (Alex), Brayden (Alex), Natalie, Cortney (Rob), Dylan (Ciara), and Joe; and 11 great grandchildren. Brother of Ernie, Frank and Larry. Donations may be sent to Matthew 25 Ministries www.m25m.org or to the charity of your choice. A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on October 15 at White Oak Christian Church with a visitation at 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:30 A.M.,
Until we meet again.
