Harriet Joy Connelly Klee

Harriet Joy Connelly Klee, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, at the age of 95. She was born on November 30, 1927, in Teaneck, NJ, to her proud parents.

Harriet earned a Master’s Degree and was a passionate and dedicated teacher. Harriet dedicated her life to developing education programs at the Cincinnati Zoo. Her impact on education programs spanned decades, leaving a legacy in the education community. Her compassion, wisdom, and love for teaching touched the lives of countless individuals. Harriet taught English for Cincinnati Public Schools at the Cincinnati Zoo Academy where she also instrumental in developing training programs for Tour Guides. She was an active member of the Garden Club, having a special interest in horticulture. She was also a World Record Holder for deadlifting 275 pounds in 1997.        

Born and raised in New Jersey, Harriet eventually settled in Milford, OH, where she resided until her passing. She was a pillar of strength and an inspiration to her children, sons Eric and Kermit Klee and daughter Alison Klee. Harriet’s unwavering love and support guided them through life’s challenges and milestones.

Family meant everything to Harriet. She cherished the bond with her children, and her joy was multiplied with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She shared endless laughter, stories, and invaluable life lessons with each generation, leaving cherished memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Harriet will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, and the countless lives she touched throughout her teaching career. Although she may be gone, the impact she has had on those around her will forever be celebrated.

Family and friends are invited to honor her memory at a memorial service, which will be held on October 30, 2023 at Arlington Memorial Gardens-Lakeside Chapel at 11:00 AM (2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH – Follow the RED line to the Lakeside Chapel). The service will be a reflection of Harriet’s vibrant spirit, filled with fond memories, eulogies, and shared stories of her remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Harriet’s commitment to education and her passion for helping students succeed.

Harriet Connelly Klee will be remembered as a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to shaping young minds. Her kindness, strength, and love for her family and students will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
