Henry “Bud” Hicks passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, after living a long and full life, achieving all of his goals.
Bud served his country valiantly in World War II as part of the Second Armored Division, affectionately called “Hell on Wheels.” He was a tank operator in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the honor guard welcoming Winston Churchill, Harry Truman, and other world leaders into Berlin.
After the War, Bud became a small business owner, including the B&B Deli in Fairfield, Ohio. In retirement, Bud would often bike to visit with his friends at a local McDonald’s.
In 2018, Bud toured war memorials in Washington, DC as part of the Honor Flight program. Upon returning home to Cincinnati, he got a well-deserved hero’s welcome-a memory he treasured.
Bud was the much-beloved husband of the late Billie “Chris” Hicks and is preceded in his passing by his late siblings, Ralph, Charlie, and Betty. His memory lives on with his two daughters, Robin and Christa Hicks, and grandchildren, Colleen and Patrick Molloy.
Bud is remembered for his quick wit, warm smile, and affection for animals. He would spend hours watching the birds, and his dog, Little Bit, was his constant companion in his later years.
Services will be held at the Neidhard Young Funeral Home in Mount Healthy, Ohio on Saturday, August 17th with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. and memorial services at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Cincinnati.
