Herbert H. Barnes, aged 94, of Cincinnati, OH, peacefully transitioned from this life on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in the comforting presence of his family. He was the cherished husband of the late Mary Ann Barnes and a devoted father to Edwin Douglas Barnes (the late Wende) and James Kevin Barnes (Vickie). Born in Lancaster, KY to the late James and Edna Barnes, Herbert was a proud grandfather to Todd (Christin) Barnes, Teri Barnes, Mandy Barnes, and Darrick (Cathy) Barnes. He was also a doting great-grandfather to Austin, Cara, Declan Wetzel, Ainsley, Sarah, and Luke Barnes. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Jacavino, and predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters.

A U.S. Marine Veteran, Herbert served his country with honor during the Korean War. His professional life was spent at the General Motors assembly plant in Norwood, OH. A faithful member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Herbert leaves behind a host of other family members and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will commence on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon, presided over by Pastor Cliff Meyers. Both will be held at Strawser Funeral Home, located at 9503 Kenwood Rd in Blue Ash, OH 45242. A burial service will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church or Affinity Hospice & Palliative Care. Online condolences can be shared at www.strawserfuneralhome.com.
