Isaiah Metcalf Jr., age 84, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026 with his twin daughters by his side. Born on December 29, 1941, in Forrest City, Arkansas, he was the eldest of 13 children and was the beloved son of Isaiah Sr. and Ida Mae Metcalf (nee Mooney).
Preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Valerie and Yolonda, and his wife Janet Metcalf, along with Isaiah III and Charles mother Doris Marie Bryant. Isaiah leaves behind a loving family including his children: Isaiah III (Sandra), Tonya, Charles (Tara), Iesha, and Inisha. He cherished his grandchildren Pierre (Mario), Rashad (Tina), Domonique, Bryan, Chasei, Kevon, Jaquan, Tyshawn, Brandi, and Jeles, alongside with numerous great-grandchildren and dear friends.
Isaiah graduated from Lincoln High School in Forrest City, Arkansas in 1960, he was a star basketball and football player. Isaiah attended Tyler Texas Community College before entering the United States Air Force, where he served his country from 1962 until 1966. Few months after he got out, he began his career at General Electric and worked there for 34 years as an aviation technician.
Isaiah’s life was filled with passions such as gardening, he would plant potatoes, green beans, corn, greens, watermelon, and okra in his own backyard; at the same time raising chickens. Isaiah also enjoyed fishing, building, sports, traveling back to Arkansas for many decades to visit his parents and also to Texas visiting his mother and along with some siblings that resides there. He was a dedicated family man, where he enjoyed family gatherings and grilling, he was also a leader who loved to guide and give instructions in life. He served for over 30 years at Carmel Presbyterian Church under the late Rev. Wallace, as a trustee, elder, and greeter.
Isaiah enjoyed spending quality time with his neighbors Joe Carmichael and the late Randall Mincy, Jerry Dawson, and Agustus Williams sharing yard ideas, outdoor activities; just enjoying each others company.
Isaiah was a warrior in many ways and when he was determined, he would do it. He was also a man of his word, and for anyone who knows Isaiah, you will always remember his warrior spirit.
A Visitation will take place Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 11:30am – 12:30 pm, located at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio. A funeral service will take place at 12:30 pm.
