In Loving memory of James E. Cones Sr., a devoted family man, who peacefully passed away on November 6, 2023, at the age of 95. Born August 23, 1928, in Cincinnati Ohio, to proud parents, James lived a life marked by resilience, love, and unwavering commitment.

James, known affectionately as Jim hailed from humble beginnings, growing up during the trying times of the Great Depression. He exemplified perseverance and determination, ultimately earning a Degree in Mechanical Engineering

But beyond his professional achievements, Jim’s true joy came from his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He devoted himself fully to his family cherishing every moment shared and creating lasting memories. Family trips were a particular source of delight for Jim, where he was able to nurture bonds and create unforgettable experiences with his loved ones.

Jim’s legacy of selfless love and warmth will forever be cherished by his surviving relatives. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Velva Cones, their children Lori (Paul) Keith, Lynn (Jerry) Helfrey, and Jimmy Cones; his adoring grandchildren, Matthew (Danielle) Amrine, Brandie (Joe) Carella, Lacey (Mike) Menke and Tyler Helfrey; Jim adored his great-grandchildren, Mallory and Lydia Amrine, Adalynn and Mila Carella. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

To honor Jim’s life and profound impact he had on his family and community, we invite friends, family  and acquaintances to join us in remembering and celebrating his life. A visitation will take place on November 13, 2023, at 10:00 am at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (2155 Compton Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45231 – Follow blue line on cemetery grounds to Funeral Home). The Funeral Service will commence at 11:00 am in the same venue, where we will honor his legacy with heartfelt tributes and loving memories.

Subsequently, Jim will be laid to rest with the utmost dignity and respect at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Springfield Township, OH. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 pm on November 13, 2023. The location of the final resting place is 2145 Compton Rd., Springfield Township, OH 45231.

His legacy of love, dedication, and perseverance will forever be etched in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Jim’s honor.
