James Vincent Gutman Jr., age 98, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. He was born on May 16, 1927, the beloved son of the late James and Ruth (née Sproul) Gutman Sr.

James was the devoted husband of the late Eileen (née Mills) Gutman. He was a loving father to Chris Gutman, Geri (Dan) Lutz, Mark Gutman, Lisa Gutman, Tom Gutman, and Joe (Jenny) Gutman. He was a proud grandfather to Mandy, Katie, Cory, Brett, Vince, and Luke, and a cherished great-grandfather to Leah, Audrey, Wyatt, Norah, Blaire, Hadley and Theo.

James is survived by his brother, Peter T. Gutman, and was preceded in death by his brother John Gutman and his sister Josephine Austing.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Neidhard Young Funeral Home, located at 7401 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45231. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, February 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, 7711 Joseph Street, Cincinnati, OH 45231. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital or the Special Olympics.
