October 24, 1940 – February 21, 2023

“Jerry” Jerome Robert Hafner passed away on February 21, 2023, at the age of 82. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Karen L. Hafner. They were married on April 23, 1977, at Tri-County Assembly of God and celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last year.

Jerry served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of the Bricklayer Union. He had a love of flying and flew planes as often as he could. He also had a love of travel and found himself traveling from Florida to Alaska to the Caribbean on cruises. He was an active member of his church and participated in a bible study group called the Barn Brothers with his cousin and friend Hank Sterwerf.

Jerry is also survived by his 4 children: Debra L. (Tom) Gibbs, Dorothy M. (Diane) Ritchie, Douglas R. Hafner, and Mark (Anna) Hafner. His 6 grandchildren: Erin (Chris) Ritchie, Michelle (Robert) Altman, Sean (Jill) Ritchie, Justin (Liz) Gibbs, Jeff (Annie) Gibbs, and Eliana Hafner; his loving sisters Marjorie (Lou) Dellerman, Mary (Lloyd) Hughes and Cheryl Richard. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members, and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Hafner (nee Feldmann) & his loving brother-in-law, Kenneth Richard.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel. (2145 Compton Road; follow the red line once on cemetery grounds)

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel with burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers you may make memorial donations to The Alzheimer’s Association at Alzheimer’s Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer’s Disease.
