Jessica K. Jones

May 28, 1994- July 21, 2023

Jessica K. Jones

Jessica Katelyn Jones, age 29, passed away peacefully from natural causes as a result of Friedreich’s ataxia on the morning of Friday, July 21, 2023 in her residence at Triple Creek Retirement Community. Jessica is survived by her father Michael Jones and her mother Michelle Tilbrook, as well as her step-mother Nancy K. Jones and step-father Gary Tilbrook. Her maternal grandmother Beverlee “Awe” Whalen and her paternal grandmother Nancy S. Jones. Jessica is also survived by her brothers and sisters Andrew Jones, Sarah Jones, Holly (Jones) Wilson and Matthew Jones as well as her brother-in-law Michael Wilson. Step-brothers John “Alex” McCarthy and Shawn McCarthy and step-sisters Jessica Tilbrook, Hannah Tilbrook and Emily Tilbrook.  Last, but certainly not least, Jessica was survived by her best friend and much-loved companion animal, an orange tabby cat aptly named, Garfield.

Jessica had a wonderful smile and sense of humor. Some of the things she enjoyed most were to read and listen to a variety of books, watch “scary”movies, complete puzzles, and create art using digital media.. She also had a great love of the ocean and all the animals in it.  Lionfish being one of her favorite ocean creatures. Jessica also had a great love of babies and children. She truly enjoyed her time as a nursery leader for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, caring for and looking after the young children within her class.  Had Jessica’s health not been a factor, Jessica would have loved to become a marine biologist and mother.

Before Jessica’s health declined she found great enjoyment in visiting amusement parks, riding roller coasters. She also enjoyed many trips to Ocean City, New Jersey with her family and extended family. Jessica was blessed with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jessica was an advocate for the humane treatment of animals. Prior to her death, Jessica expressed that in lieu of flowers, she hoped that people would consider making a donation to an animal shelter of their choice.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the staff (past and present) of Triple Creek Retirement Community for the friendship and care that they extended to Jessica during her time there.

“I worked with Jessica in nursery when we were in the ward. My husband was in training for work that year and with our 2 little kids money was really tight for us. Jessica found a coupon for laundry detergent and used her own money to give us some. I was really impressed that she would think of us and share. Jessica and Nancy planned a birthday party to celebrate the nursery kids. She made a pinata and planned activities and treats for the kids. they had a great time! Jessica reached out to me after we moved away too. I am grateful I got to know her and have her friendship.”

“Lost a very loving granddaughter. Always had a smile for everyone. Will remember all the footprints you left behind on our hearts. Though our hearts 💕 are broken for our loss Jessica is now free from her disability and free to run and play dance and sing. Your great grandma is there to comfort you. We must live on and remember all the happy fun times we shared. You are loved and will be missed. RIP my dear one.”
