Joan B. Schmitz

Joan Schmitz (Dulle) of St. Louis, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 23, 2024, in Cincinnati, OH.  She was born in St. Louis on January 16, 1946, to the late Emil & Sue Dulle. 

Loving wife of 52 years to Dan Schmitz and adoring mother to Jenna Schmitz.  Joan was a dear sister to Jan (Neal) Leeds of West Bloomfield, MI & the late Bernard Dulle.  She is also survived by 5 nieces & nephews, 10 great nieces & nephews, & 4 great-great nieces & nephews. 

Joan was a force.  She was one of a kind with impeccable taste & style.  Joan was a very strong, independent & successful woman. 

Her family was her world.  Joan & Dan raised a truly remarkable woman in Jenna and Joan would beam with pride when speaking of her many accomplishments.  If you knew Joan, you knew Jenna.

Joan loved animals.  She had many cats & dogs over the years as well as grand dogs that she cherished.  She could not get enough of the Budweiser Clydesdales either, never missing an opportunity to see their majesty. 

She had a group of close-knit friends for almost 50 years, who gathered to play Canasta, which ultimately became monthly catchups over dinner.

Joan relished her career of 40 years at AT&T.  Her work ethic was unsurpassed, which was a trait she learned from her parents.

You could say shopping was her game, but then you could also say the same for cooking & watching all varieties of sports.

There will be a visitation service at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Road, St. Louis, MO March 23, 2024, 2-4pm.  A celebration of life will be held in Cincinnati, OH in early summer.
