Joan Luebberst

october 24, 1939 – july 13, 2024

Joan Luebberst

Joan Luebberst (nee Stephens), a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away on July 13, 2024, in Cincinnati, OH where she resided the past two years at Sanctuary Point Nursing Home. She lived in Cincinnati most of her life, but resided in West Harrison, IN for almost 30 years. Born on October 24, 1939, Joan embraced life with a love of family and simple pleasures.

A devoted mother to her children Lynn (Ray) Patrick and William (Wendy) Luebberst, Joan found joy in watching them grow and create their own families. She treasured her time spent with her grandchildren Erin (Brian), Shannon (John), Benjamin, and Dean, and adored her great-grandchildren Jacob, Evan, Lucas, William Tucker, and Ford Gabriel. She loved talking on the phone, especially her daily 7:00 AM call to her oldest sister, Barbara.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Ruth Stephens, her loving husband, Ralph Luebberst, and her sister Shirley Stephens.

Joan was a vibrant soul who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She had a passion for sports, especially baseball and basketball. She was a dedicated fan of UC basketball and football for many years and spent many years as a spectator and scorekeeper for her children and grandchildren’s games. She was even a champion softball player in her youth. She also enjoyed bingo, casinos and lotteries. She had treasured memories of her trips to Las Vegas many years ago with her sisters.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Memorial services to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park) on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 12:00 noon. Friends and family are invited to attend and honor the memory of this remarkable woman who brought joy to so many. May she find peace in the eternal game of life beyond.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ which was Joan’s favorite charity.
