JoAnn Barton

JoAnn Theresa Barton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born on February 15, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Katherine (nee Brossenne) Bitzer.

JoAnn spent her entire life in Cincinnati, where she cultivated a deep love for her family, gardening, and her community. She was a devoted wife to Donald Barton for an incredible 70 years, an uncommon achievement and testament to the unwavering love they shared.

Professionally, JoAnn committed herself to the banking industry, working as a dedicated bank teller for Sentry Savings. She took great pride in her work, always offering exceptional service with a warm smile to every customer who walked through the door.

Outside of work, JoAnn found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her green thumb was renowned among friends and neighbors as she beautifully tended to her garden, allowing nature to flourish under her care. She cherished the vibrant colors of her blooms, with blue being her favorite. Her love for gardening extended to her passion for wildlife, as she ensured her backyard was a sanctuary for birds and critters, creating a harmonious environment for all creatures great and small.

JoAnn’s devotion to her family was unmatched. She cherished precious moments spent with her daughters, Donna (David Rechtin) Wood and Connie (Daniel) Argo, and her grandchildren Lydia (Jonathan) Reeve, Lauren Bryant, Katie Argo, Emma (Zach Murdock) Argo, David Argo, and her son-in-love, Justin Ludwick. Her heart overflowed with love and pride as she welcomed great-grandchildren Simon Reeve, Sarah Reeve, Anna Ludwick, and Andre Wood into her life. JoAnn’s family meant the world to her, and her unwavering support, unconditional love, and sage advice will be dearly missed.

In her 89 years, JoAnn was a pillar of strength and love, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched. She instilled in her family the values of compassion, dedication, and kindness, creating a lasting legacy that will be carried on by generations to come.

JoAnn Theresa Barton’s cherished memory will forever live on in the hearts of her surviving family: her adoring husband, Donald Barton, her loving daughters Donna Wood and Connie Argo, her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her esteemed son-in-law, Justin Ludwick.

The memorial service and ceremonies to honor JoAnn’s life will be announced in the coming days, offering an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share stories, and bid a fond farewell to this remarkable woman. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she made a profound impact on all who had the honor of knowing her.
