Obituary via Brater Winter Funeral Home
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of JoAnn Lawhorn, who passed away on April 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family and community. JoAnn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to her parents Thomas and Josephine (nee Hammond) Kearns, July 7, 1946.
JoAnn was a spirited and vibrant woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid pickleball player, she spent many happy hours at the Lawrenceburg Community Center, where she forged friendships and embodied the spirit of community. Travel was another passion of hers, as she cherished the opportunity to explore new places and experience life to its fullest.
A devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, JoAnn was known for her unwavering support, always traveling long distances to watch her grandchildren play sports. No matter the distance, her love for her family knew no bounds, and she took immense pride in the achievements of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
JoAnn’s warmth, love, and compassion touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She exemplified the qualities of a loving mother and a cherished friend, always ready with a smile and an encouraging word.
Those left to remember JoAnn are her children: Rhonda (John) Murray and Kevin (Melanie) Lawhorn; her grandchildren: Lindsey (Ian) Soucy, Colton Murray and Joseph, Sean, and Riley Lawhorn; her great-grandchildren: Rowan and Julian Soucy; and her brother: Thomas (Carolyn) Kearns.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband Ronald Lawhorn; and her parents Thomas and Josephine Kearns.
A graveside service will be held April 19th, at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231 with everyone meeting at 9:45 AM. A gathering of family and friends will be held the same day at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 South Vine Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030, from 1 PM till the time of the service at 2 PM. (We understand that the graveside is before the service, and this is because the cemetery could only do the burial at that time.)
As we gather to honor JoAnn’s memory, we will remember the joy she brought to our lives and the love she instilled in all of us. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts. Memorials may be made to the Krohn Conservatory. A funeral home representative will assist with memorials during the visitation. If you are unable to attend memorials may be mailed (made payable to charity) to Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030.
