Joe B. Hoskins

Joe B. Hoskins, age 90, of Cincinnati, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Otterbein Loveland Senior Life Neighborhood.

He was born on January 26, 1935, in Seco, Kentucky, the son of Rader and Gladys (Wagers) Hoskins.

Joe was a devoted and active member of Springdale Church of the Nazarene, where he proudly served as an usher and greeter. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, riding his bike in Florida, playing cards, cribbage, solving Sudoku puzzles, playing softball, and coin collecting as a dedicated numismatist. He was also a member of the National Geographic Society.

Joe truly had a heart of gold. He was loyal, kind, and honest, and he knew no strangers. Children gravitated to him—often knocking on his door to ask if he could come outside and play. He loved to banter and tease, was known for his quick one-liners and memorable quotes, and had a great sense of adventure. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Most importantly, he loved the Lord.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Jane Hoskins Danbury and her spouse Leslie Reynolds; his son, Dale Lee Hoskins and his spouse Mary Heinrich; sister Dora Elizabeth Smith (spouse Harold Smith deceased); son-in-law Donald Woodruff, five grandchildren, Amie Hoskins Hale, Joseph Hoskins, Sarah Woodruff, Dana Danbury, and Erin Danbury; thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by seventeen nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Rader and Gladys (Wagers) Hoskins, his beloved wife, Betty Jane (Williams) Hoskins, daughter Dianna Lynn Woodruff, brothers, Rex Carol Hoskins, Charles Hoskins and Cledis “Willy” Hoskins, sisters, Stella Mae Hoskins Elam, Lura Rae Hoskins Maupin, Reba Fay Hoskins Burton, and Vivian Gay Hoskins Ludwick.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00–10:00 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at The Arlington Memorial Gardens – Lakeside Chapel, 2145 Compton Road. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Mark Craven officiating. Burial will be in The Arlington Memorial Gardens, Garden of Gethsemane.
